As coaches, we should all be active learners and continue to improve our skill sets. We should look to push ourselves out of our comfort zones while at the same time educating our players.
I have found that the routine of my personal coaching year can sometimes see me going through the motions. I get used to the schedule; I get used to the grind, as I think many of us do.
After last fall’s challenging high school season, in which our team did not perform up to the standards set by our program, I vowed that I needed to be better. I needed to lead the boys better and support them better in all areas. I needed to push myself to get out of the grind of the coaching year and step up my game.
