Ever since Kurt Swanbeck took over the Hebron Academy boys soccer program eight years ago, he’s instilled a winning culture. That was reinforced in this year’s NEPSAC Class C title game, one in which the Lumberjacks downed Millbrook Academy, 8-1, to repeat as champions and make it 36 games without a loss.
It was a lopsided match, one in which Hebron led 6-0 by halftime, but this group, especially the senior class, meant something a little extra to Swanbeck.
"I’ve known these guys for years, we’re all really close and they’re finishing their careers strong," Swanbeck said. "This was really special for them. A great core that just had a good compliment of players around them the last two years that filled the holes that needed to be filled. These guys, there’s not much more you can say than they were just absolutely special. It’s an honor."
