BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. -- Friday was Day 2 at the Girls Academy Spring Showcase.
The U-19 sides got their first chance to take to the fields at the sprawling Bryan Park Soccer Complex, just outside of Greensboro. The weather provided a mixed bag, as the morning games were played in rainy conditions with the temperatures in the low-60s, and the afternoon matches were played under mostly sunny skies with temps in the high-70s.
What wasn’t a mixed bag was the performances of the two New England clubs that sent their U-19s to the showcase. Both Seacoast United and South Shore Select earned impressive wins. Seacoast defeated Palm Beach Kicks, 4-2, in a game that started at 11 a.m., while South Shore Select defeated Lonestar SC in a game that started at 3:45 p.m.
