Girls Academy: Nine New England players invited to National Talent ID event

The Girls Academy season wraps up this weekend when the GA National Finals take place from July 10-13 at the River City Sportsplex in Midlothian, Va.

But before the champions are crowned, some of the top girls’ soccer players in the country will also head to Virginia and participate in the prestigious Girls Academy National Talent ID from July 8-10.

Among those selected for this year’s National Talent ID are nine New England players, including eight from regional powerhouse NEFC and one from Rhode Island Surf. Players at the event will participate in classroom sessions, on-field training and full-game experiential learning. Hundreds of college coaches and scouts will be in attendance during a critical recruiting opportunity.

Two players — Dahlia Cryan (NEFC) and Julia Kaminski (NEFC) — were selected for the second straight year, while sisters Alexa and Adley Hoff were also chosen from NEFC.

However, seven of the nine local players won’t be able to participate in the National Talent ID. But for good reason. Since the NEFC Red 2009, 2010 and 2011 teams qualified for the GA Finals, players on those squads will focus solely on the playoffs.
