The Girls Academy conducted its first showcase event last weekend, with teams from across the country gathering at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
New England-based sides NEFC, Oakwood, Seacoast United and South Shore Select all had teams in attendance and performed quite well. They returned to Northeast Conference league action earlier this spring, so this represented a chance to play teams from elsewhere.
The COVID-19 pandemic still framed the event with safety precautions, traveling hurdles and the like. But all around, it was encouraging to see teams competing on a national scale like this.
From all four New England-based clubs, here's a rundown of standouts and key performers.
