
Charlotte Cyr already was making a name for herself as a goalkeeper to watch by the time she was playing U-14 for FSA FC. It took an unexpected opening to accelerate her development.
An injury at the U16 level forced Cyr into action playing up two levels. The Wethersfield, Conn., native pushed through initial nerves to show that she was more than capable of facing up against a higher level of play.
“Physically, she was able to handle it, which is probably the most important thing,” said Mick D’Arcy, FSA ECNL girls director of coaching and the head women's coach at Central Connecticut State. “Anytime you ask a player to play up one year, two seems almost crazy, but you want to make sure that physically they’re able to handle themselves.
