When Franklin Pierce met Southern New Hampshire this past Saturday, it marked the coming together of two of New England’s most-storied Division 2 programs. Together, they’ve made over 40 appearances in the NCAA tournament, captured three national championships and secured 10 Northeast-10 titles.
The history becomes even more complex when considering how Franklin Pierce (3-1-1) head coach Ruben Resendes played and coached at Southern New Hampshire (2-2-1), making him quite close with head coach Josh Taylor and his staff.
That all set up an eventual 2-1 road win for the Ravens, which served as Resendes’ first NE10 victory since taking the job in January. He was previously the top assistant at Division 1 program Vermont.
