Tracey Kevins and the U.S. U-17 women’s national team would normally convene in the sunny locales of California or Florida for a domestic training camp, with players flying in from across the country.
The COVID-19 pandemic makes that proposition quite challenging, however, leaving U.S. Soccer to bob and weave, relying on remote means as the program resumes.
In a phone interview with Kevins on Thursday, she said that 141 players have been invited to a virtual camp that’ll occur over a six-week period. Unable to conduct in-person training sessions like normal, the virtual camp is designed to introduce highly-rated prospects (mainly 2005s) to the U-17 environment.
