Four seniors with ties to New England have been invited to Major League Soccer’s combine for the 2018 SuperDraft.
The quartet includes center back Wyatt Omsberg from Dartmouth, forward Mac Steeves from Providence College, forward Frantzdy Pierrot from Coastal Carolina, and center back Andre Morrison from Hartford. They’ll arrive in Orlando, Florida for the Jan. 11-17 event, which includes 90-minute matches, fitness tests, and meetings with various MLS front offices.
The combine typically offers top seniors – and select international players – from Division 1 college soccer a last-ditch effort to climb up or drop down ranking boards. Most general managers and head coaches have a sound idea of who they’re interested in drafting, but this event provides an in-depth, first-hand account.
The SuperDraft will be held Jan. 19 in Philadelphia, Penn., and these New Englanders are likely to be chosen throughout the four rounds.
