The Founders League once again proved to be a deep and potent force in New England boys prep soccer in 2021.
Last fall, four of the league’s nine teams qualified for the NEPSAC postseason. Those programs were Taft, Loomis Chaffee, Avon Old Farms and Westminster.
Leading the way was Taft, which lost in the Class A championship game in a penalty kick shootout to Northfield Mount Hermon. That was Taft’s only loss in a phenomenal 19-1 campaign. Meanwhile, Westminster got all the way to the Class B championship game, where it lost to South Kent. Westy finished at an impressive 13-4-3.
With teams slated to open their 2022 seasons next week, and some competing at preseason jamborees this weekend, it’s a perfect time to forecast how the Founders could play out in the 2022 campaign.
