In this historic season, the New England Revolution has surpassed most of the records set by the Steve Nicol-coached teams of the early 2000s. But there is a ways to go for the Revolution to get back to the MLS Cup and maybe — finally — win it.
Nicol, for one, is backing Bruce Arena and the Revolution to go all the way at last.
"We don’t want records and stuff like that," Nicol said. "MLS Cup, that’s the bottom line. Bruce would swap MLS Cup for any records, no question."
