The downfall of Global Premier Soccer has produced another chapter, with former chief operating officer (COO) Justin Capell charged Friday in U.S. District Court (Boston) in relation to a visa scheme that allegedly involved professional clubs and foreign coaches.
Capell, a 39-year-old from Southboro, Mass., pled guilty to conspiracy to commit visa fraud. A plea hearing has not been set. The sentence allows for up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.
The charging documents allege that Capell and several colleagues helped to secure visas for youth coaches under false pretenses, purporting that they were working as scouts for those like Sky Blue FC and the now-defunct Boston Breakers (both NWSL).
