For roughly the past decade, top-end girls soccer players have called the ECNL home. That status quo was somewhat disrupted this past fall with the inaugural girls Development Academy season, but yet another shift in the youth soccer landscape is coming.
FC Stars of Massachusetts, one of three girls DA clubs from New England, is leaving the U.S. Soccer-backed league at the conclusion of the 2017-18 season. The decision, according to FC Stars director of coaching Jason Dewhurst, started with a discussion in January, and the club ultimately informed U.S. Soccer of its move April 16.
