Like with any good player with multiple passports in hand, Alexis Legowski’s path to the international soccer stage isn’t cut and dry.
The 16-year-old holding midfielder calls South Hadley, Mass., home. She is a junior at The MacDuffie School, a private school near Amherst, Mass. At heart, however, Legowski is Polish.
Her father, Chris, grew up in the eastern European country, and came to the United States, nearly playing in the early iterations of Major League Soccer. Proud of her heritage, Legowski attained Polish citizenship in the spring of 2016 and now is a member of their U-17 national team.
