It’s not too common to see New England natives at top-25 programs, but one currently enjoys a key role as his team eyes a push up the Atlantic Coast Conference standings.
Djimon Johnson, a sophomore midfielder at No. 20 Syracuse, has started seven of the Orange’s last 10 games, going the full 90 minutes against perennial powerhouses Akron and Wake Forest. The goals and assists haven’t always come – the Bridgeport, Conn., native’s sole assist came Aug. 24 against Oregon State – but he’s played a key role nonetheless.
Now, Syracuse plays its final regular season Friday vs. Boston College, and Johnson said this late-season, upward trajectory was a long time coming.
