It’s never easy to replace a legend, but that’s the task facing Kristin Cannon.
The native of East Greenwich, R.I., and former standout defender at Division 2 Assumption has been named the new head coach of the Springfield College women’s soccer team. She becomes the sixth head coach in program history.
It’ll be a return to Springfield for Cannon, who earned a Master's degree from the school and spent time as a graduate assistant with the women's soccer program from 2010-12.
She takes over for the legendary John Gibson, who announced earlier this year that he will retire following the current academic year, after a very successful 22-season run as Springfield's coach. He compiled an overall record of 268-123-46.
