College soccer coaches, at least publicly, are always quick to temper expectations behind first-year players. They typically encounter an adjustment period, and coaches don't want to ramp up the pressure.
But that doesn't stop freshmen from leaving their mark. In fact, some even emerge as their team's best player.
After impressive 2018 seasons, New England Soccer Journal has named its All-Rookie Team for Division 3 women's soccer. The team is organized in a 3-5-2 formation and features players from five different conferences throughout the region.
While it's just one strong season, all signs suggest a positive impact will continue for years to come.
