Fans of Division 3 men's soccer in New England have been, well, spoiled as of late. Tufts won national titles in 2014 and 2016, Amherst snagged its own in 2015, and Brandeis has reached the Final Four the past two seasons.
So, after the region went title-less in 2017, traditional powerhouses are rearing to reclaim national glory.
Just ask Tufts, which last year had to “settle” for the first NESCAC championship in program history. A pair of wins in the NCAA Tournament also came along, ones that advanced them to the quarterfinals before being ousted by Brandeis in double-overtime.
“Obviously, we had a great season and we love what we accomplished,” said Tufts coach Josh Shapiro. “We had outstanding senior leadership from everywhere on the team. Our biggest question mark is how we’re going to be able to fill that void.”
