There were no shortage of surprises during conference tournament week.
Not in the NESCAC, where eighth-seeded Colby took down heavyweights Tufts, Amherst and Williams to claim its first league title, the first and last of those wins coming on penalty kicks.
"It's such a surreal feeling winning the way we did," Colby senior midfielder David Howarth said. "Being able to knock off the No. 2 team in the country, beat Amherst on their field, and manage again to win in penalties shows the mental toughness of the lads. Coming into the preseason we had a goal of winning a NESCAC championship. We worked hard, persevered, and made history."
