When asked to describe rising sophomore midfielder Shikhar Motupally (Avon, Conn.), MIT men’s soccer head coach Ken Bovell starts with a simple comparison.
What happens when the ball is kicked and the Avon Old Farms and FSA FC alum enters game mode?
“He actually transforms,” said Bovell. “Off the field, he's a confident kid, not cocky, very respectful. On the field, he's a beast. He's one of the most competitive players I've coached.”
Talk about high praise – and it bore out during the 2024 season.
As a freshman, Motupally was named the NEWMAC Rookie of the Year and to the All-NEWMAC Second Team. He also earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches All-Region II First Team.
