If anything, Hobart head coach Shawn Griffin wishes he made the change sooner.
The move in question? Switching Frederick Madsen (Waltham, Mass.) to the starting No. 9 role, instead of his customary winger spot.
"He's a Division 1 kid playing Division 3," said Griffin, a New Hampshire native and former Plymouth State head coach. "He's going to be a guy at the No. 9 spot who will play big minutes this year. He's going to win games for us."
That confidence follows the 2023 season, where Madsen posted a team-leading 22 points (nine goals and five assists) as the Statesmen overcame a slow start to capture their fourth Liberty League title. By comparison, Madsen had 19 points combined across his first two seasons (seven goals and five assists).
