At long last, college soccer is back.
The Division 1 women’s soccer regular season kicked off on Thursday, and several teams around the region took to the pitch over the weekend. New England Soccer Journal’s preseason rankings only came out last week, but enough action has happened to provide our first weekly update of the season.
Boston College flexed its muscle with a pair of wins, while Providence and New Hampshire earned their own 2-0 records. Some teams, like UConn and Boston University, struggled against out-of-conference opponents. Meanwhile, the Ivy League squads have yet to play, as their seasons don’t start until Aug. 24.
Our rankings haven’t changed much with only a few games played, but even so, here’s NESJ’s Top 10 teams and Players of the Week from the first weekend of the season.
