By just about every meaningful measurement, Francesca Yanchuk (North Attleboro, Mass.) had a productive freshman season at Villanova.
The forward made 14 starts and played in 17 games for the Wildcats, tallying an assist and 14 shots on net. She logged a total of 994 minutes for the season.
Villanova, however, finished just 7-11 and 1-9 in the Big East, and Yanchuk couldn’t help but wonder if there was a better fit for her elsewhere.
"I kind of just wanted an even bigger challenge for myself and to be pushed even more," said Yanchuk. "I want to go pro after college, and I want to put myself in the best position to do that. I talked with my parents a lot about that, and I just wanted to put myself in an environment that is going to push me to get where I want to go."
