The 2018 college soccer season is officially in the books with Sunday's Division 1 men's final, which Maryland captured by downing Akron, 1-0, in Santa Barbara, Calif.
From that point, it's an apt time to highlight some of New England's top performers from the fall.
There's a strong presence from the region's three NCAA tournament qualifiers – UConn, New Hampshire and Rhode Island – but also some strong individual performance from those whose saw their postseason attempts cut short.
Our First and Second Best XIs are both arranged in a 3-4-3 formation with expanded blurbs on each player. Six of the 22 players are from New England, reflecting the heavy international direction of D1 soccer in America.
