D1 Men: 4 New England players to watch in College Cup semifinals

The 2025 Division 1 men’s national champion will not be a New England program.

Last year’s champ, Vermont, was defeated by Hofstra in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. UConn and Bryant -- the only other teams from the region in the field -- went down in the third round. 

The Final Four will be held on Friday in Cary, N.C., as Furman will face Washington (6 p.m.), and Saint Louis will face North Carolina State (8:30 p.m.). The national final will be on Monday (7 p.m.).

While none of those four sides reside here in New England, there are still plenty of local ties to the College Cup. Most notably at NC State, where head coach Marc Hubbard is in his second season. Prior to arriving at NC State, Hubbard led New Hampshire to seven straight NCAA Tournament appearances. He spent nine seasons at UNH, posting an impressive 115-32-21 (.747) overall record with four America East Tournament championships. He was also highly successful at Southern New Hampshire University before his time at UNH.
