Curt Onalfo found himself inextricably intertwined with soccer from the moment of his birth.
By any measure, his origin story in the game required a confluence of circumstances well outside of his control and started well before the New England Revolution technical director spent his formative years in Ridgefield, Conn.
It involves a job transfer for his father to a soccer-mad country, a historic achievement by one of the greatest players ever to step foot on a field, and a confluence of timing pointing him in a direction his parents never would have expected.
