Just in case the blaring roars in Burlington haven't reverberated in your neck of the woods just yet, I'm here to tell you that Vermont soccer is having a moment.
Well, actually it’s really much more than a moment.
It’s been eight unforgettable months in which soccer in the Green Mountain State has achieved national prominence that could arguably make it the soccer capital of the country right now.
On Saturday night, in front of an exuberant home crowd of nearly 5,000 supporters at Virtue Field, Vermont Green FC defeated Ballard FC, 2-1, to capture the 2025 USL League Two championship. It’s the first-ever USL League Two crown for Vermont, which made its League Two debut in 2022. The club also became the second straight New England-based champion, after the Seacoast United Phantoms got it done in 2024.
