In my previous column, I focused much of my attention on the work hours and time spent by us high school coaches.
Within our roles as program leaders, there is the vital role of being a mentor for the teenagers that we work with and helping them develop on and off the field. One of the areas of mentorship that has continually increased is the college support piece we provide our players and their parents.
With more and more players involved in the club soccer scene, it has certainly meant that many student-athletes are dedicating significant time and effort into the sport of soccer. With that time and effort, there are also significant financial expenses for families to pay for their child’s yearly tuition, uniforms, and travel to games/events.
