Club Preview: Select Soccer Club eyes Year 2 breakthrough in ECNL Girls

After years of dominating the Girls Academy scene — highlighted by national titles and the development of prospects like Lilly Reale and Ally Sentnor — the Hingham, Mass., club ambitiously joined the ECNL Girls platform, believing the move aligned perfectly with its goal of providing players the opportunity to compete at the highest level.

The jump from GA to ECNL understandably involved some growing pains. Still, Select still exceeded expectations in Year 1. Its 2008 and 2010 teams challenged for Champions League bids, ultimately earning North American Cup appearances at the ECNL Playoffs last summer. Furthermore, the 2011 group was the club’s biggest success in its debut campaign, reaching the Round of 16 of the Champions League playoffs.

What will Year 2 bring? Select aims to break into the top half of the New England Conference standings and qualify for the Champions League with a bevy of current and future college-bound players leading the way.
