New champions will be crowned across the state in boys and girls soccer. It will be a sprint of just more than two weeks from the first games to the championship matches.
In boys Class LL, defending state champion Staples earned the top seed after a 15-0-1 regular season. No. 2 Xavier, No. 3 South Windsor, No. 4 Glastonbury and No. 5 Trumbull all clinched first-round byes.
The first round begins on Friday and will continue through Saturday. All first-round games will be hosted by the higher seed. As of Tuesday morning, dates and times for all 11 first-round matches had yet to be announced.
