For most, the easiest pathway to college soccer is through exposure at the club or Development Academy level. Making the leap from high school to Division 1 used to be prevalent, but is largely a thing of the past. NCAA coaches want to see players against the best of the best, and that competition tends to lie in club spaces.
Step in Charlie Adams.
Adams (Norwich, Vt.), a 17-year-old attacking center mid, has verbally committed to the admissions process at Brown University for the Class of 2020. He only started playing club soccer a few months ago, instead lifting his profile with a dominant season at nearby Hanover (N.H.) High School.
