The Central Connecticut State women’s soccer team is heading back to the NCAA tournament, beating Long Island University 4-0 on Friday afternoon to win its third straight Northeast Conference tournament.
The Blue Devils (7-0) also swept the NEC awards circuit, it was announced Friday, claiming the top coach (Mick D’Arcy), goalkeeper (Amanda McQuillan), defensive player (Brianna Williams), offensive player (Jenna Rae Covello), midfielder (Roma McLaughlin) and rookie (Kelly Brady) honors.
Now, CCSU awaits its NCAA tournament fate in the 48-team field that’ll be held at various locations in the Cary, North Carolina area. The selection show is set for Monday afternoon, with other Division I women’s teams around New England praying for an at-large bid.
