Central Connecticut State women’s coach Mick D’Arcy paused briefly when asked about the career progression of his standout senior defender, Shauny Alterisio (Danbury, Conn.).
“She’s not gotten any quieter in the four years, I’ll tell you that,” he said, before lauding some of her on-field and leadership qualities.
Indeed, on the field and in the locker room, Alterisio might be the loudest voice for a CCSU team that hopes to show that its great success in 2018 – a 16-2-2 record, Northeast Conference tournament championship and NCAA Tournament appearance – was a foundation, not a peak.
