If Will Hassett (Providence, R.I.) desired, he could walk to the edge of his high school campus and catch glimpses of a Brown University men’s soccer game. Sharing a stretch of Lloyd Street on the East Side of Providence, that’s how close Moses Brown and Stevenson-Pincince Field are.
Only moving forward, the 17-year-old won’t have to wonder what it’d be like playing for the Bears under head coach Pat Laughlin. Rather, the midfielder, who plays club soccer for Bruno United, will be in the thick of it as a Class of 2020 commit to the Ivy League program.
Soccer factors into the decision, of course, but so does Hassett’s desire to receive a world-class education and pursue interests beyond athletics.
