For Lughano Nyondo, the past five years have been a whirlwind.
Originally from Malawi, Nyondo has attended five different schools in that span. She attended the 2019 Women’s World Cup and spent about half a year in Seattle during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It’s been quite the journey for Nyondo, now a sophomore at the Brooks School. The one constant has been the soccer pitch, where she feels the most at ease.
"For me, it’s a happy place," Nyondo said. "If I’m having a rough day, once I go on the field, the emotion just switches. It’s like therapy."
