Boston College women’s soccer was the region’s only NCAA side competing this fall, but head coach Jason Lowe’s team is now left in the same position as New England’s 44 other Division I programs: waiting.
The Eagles’ fall season concluded Sunday with a 3-0 loss against Virginia Tech, a game that slipped away when the visitors scored three second-half goals. Lowe, connecting Monday with New England Soccer Journal, called it their “worst phase” of the season.
It leaves Boston College with a 1-7 record, only beating Syracuse (3-1 win Oct. 22) during the abbreviated ACC season. They didn’t qualify for the conference’s eight-team tournament, and now look ahead to a possible spring season, which the NCAA has approved to occur between Feb. 3 and April 17 before national tournaments at 75 percent capacity.
