New England-based teams have won the Division 3 men’s soccer national tournament in all but one season since 2014, the COVID-19 canceled year (2020) notwithstanding.
Might that trend continue in 2022?
Twelve programs from the region are hoping so, though there’s big news: Connecticut College, defending national champions, missed out on an at-large bid, despite making the NESCAC final last weekend as a No. 8 seed.
Here’s a breakdown of New England’s contingent that’s dancing into mid-November and possibly beyond, with regional roots noted in parentheses. Five NESCAC teams lead the way, contributing to a 64-team field that’s building towards a Dec. 3 final at Kerr Soccer Stadium in Salem, Va.
