
March routinely marks the return of the Major League Soccer season. It also serves as the point when official games resume in the Development Academy. The three-month winter recess is over for the region’s five DA clubs, with newcomers and familiar faces quickly jelling.
To preview what’s in store, New England Soccer Journal has compiled team-by-team previews for the remainder of the 2018-19 season.
The main date on everyone’s calendar arrives in late June, when U.S. Soccer hosts its annual Summer Showcase and Playoffs in Oceanside, Calif. Local teams will vie for spots out of the Northeast Division, with this year marking the first time all three age divisions — U-15, U-17 and U-19 — will have playoff competition.
While the fall brought about mixed results, the local entrants harbor optimism and hope heading into the spring.
