Brock Holt has become an indispensable member of the Boston Red Sox because, well, he always finds a way onto the field. Infield, outfielder, pinch hitter, pinch runner – it doesn't matter to him. The World Series champion is a utility man.
The same could be said for Jack Doran, a junior midfielder and captain at Duke University.
"I bet that if I asked him to play goalie, he would," said Blue Devils (11-6-2) coach John Kerr. "That shows you he’s willing to put the team first. That’s huge for a coach."
That versatility has found the West Roxbury, Mass., native starting at center mid ahead of Duke's NCAA tournament third-round game vs. Maryland on Saturday.
