Tennessee isn't the likeliest of destinations when most local players begin their college recruiting search, but it marks the next stop for Killian Byrne.
More specifically, the Beachside U-19 winger is heading to Nashville, home of country music, barbecue and a future Major League Soccer expansion club. Byrne, a 17-year-old from West Haven, Conn., has committed to Lipscomb University, a program that's won back-to-back ASUN championships.
But early into the process, Byrne thought he'd head elsewhere.
"At the beginning of my search I was thinking of being an architect, so (Lipscomb) wasn't really on the radar," Byrne said. "I decided business was what I wanted and it worked out great."
