When the U.S. U-15 national team hosted its first camp of 2019, it appeared to include one New England native: Luca Koleosho (Trumbull, Conn.), a forward who's with Spanish club CF Reus Deportiu.
However, another local was part of the 28-player camp under head coach Clint Peay in Chula Vista, Calif. Only his hometown was listed as Issaquah, Wash., and that's where a remarkable New England soccer story begins.
Austin Brummett – in fact a native of Bow, N.H. – has spent the past two years in residency with the Seattle Sounders. He's becoming a regular in youth national team camps and plays up with the MLS academy.
Brummett's journey starts with Seacoast United, the local Development Academy club he left at 13. Playing up with their U-17s at a Summer Showcase event, Brummett was scouted by the Sounders and asked to join. As an eighth grader, he left home in pursuit of some lofty goals.
