For the first time since Will Packwood (Concord, Mass.) in 2009, New England will have a representative when the U.S. heads to a FIFA U-17 World Cup.
New York City FC forward Andres Jasson (Greenwich, Conn.) was named on Thursday morning to head coach Raphael Wicky’s 21-man roster for the upcoming tournament in Brazil.
The U.S., who finished as runners-up at the Concacaf U-17 Championship this past May, and are set to compete in Group D alongside Senegal, Japan and the Netherlands. The group stage will unfold from Oct. 27 through Nov. 7, and up to three teams could advance to the knockout stage, with the championship match set for Nov. 17.
