Alas, it’s time to officially put a bow on the ECNL Girls season.
After unveiling Best XIs for the 2009s and 2010s last week, our final age group is stepping into the spotlight. The 2011s, comprised mostly of Class of 2029 players, have started to emerge one year before their recruiting window opens.
This spring, the 2011 age group continued trends of the older levels. FC Stars Blue won the league and reached the Champions League quarterfinals for the second straight season. Select SC also had a memorable finish. Despite missing out on a Champions League berth by one point, they went 4-0-0 at the national playoffs to capture the North American Cup.
Our 2011 Best XI highlights the star power from FC Stars Blue and Select SC, but also includes at least one player from the four other New England teams. We chose two forwards, five midfielders (it’s a loaded group), three defenders and one goalkeeper.
