As the spring club season nears, one of the more intriguing storylines in the ECNL Girls New England Conference is how the 2010 standings will shake out.
The contender list runs deep. And one of the teams that belongs in the upper tier of that age group is Connecticut FC.
Ahead of ECNL Florida last month, several coaches told me to put CFC’s 2010 group on my radar, especially after they started the season with a statement win over World Class FC.
I saw them play twice in Florida and came away impressed. There’s not only high-end talent across the field, but CFC also plays a connective brand of soccer predicated on ball movement and pressure. In both matches, CFC dictated the tempo and pace.
With just a few weeks left before action heats up, CFC’s 2010 team is poised to make noise this season. But they are not alone. The 2009 group is coming off a Champions League appearance and has college-bound players all over.
