It’s hard to believe that another year is coming to an end, and 2022 is just about here.
But we can be thankful that 2021 satisfied our hunger for soccer. Yes, the year certainly carried its own challenges in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic, but players, coaches and teams persevered and were able to get back on the pitch for competition that resembled normalcy.
The sport we love returned in full-force across all levels – youth, club/academy, high school, prep, college and professional. And with that, the last 12 months produced numerous memorable moments and compelling stories.
It was not an easy task, but the NESJ chose the top 10 stories of the 2021 calendar year. Here they are, in descending order from 10-1.
