BOYS: Farmington gears up for another charge
Farmington enters on top after winning Class LL a year ago. The run from the fourth seed to the final included a 3-0 victory over Shelton in the decisive affair. This group lost All-State defender Ian Thomas to graduation, but it is gearing up for another charge. Danbury, Greenwich and Naugatuck loom as potential contenders.
Class L champion Daniel Hand finished second in the Class LL/L poll last year after defeating upstarts Joel Barlow in the final. Expect perennial powerhouse E.O. Smith to mount a spirited charge with returning forward Cooper Knecht ready to lead the line, while two-time All-State selection Noah Silverman returns to bolster Berlin.
Brookfield held firm against Ellington to secure the Class M title a year ago, while Coventry is the defending Class S champion after toppling top-seeded Old Saybrook in last year’s final.
